240 Years of Maritime Excellence
Celebrating the Navy's Birthday
240 years ago, a group of rebels, calling themselves the Continental Congress, did the unthinkable. They approved the formation of a navy. A navy that in less than five years would help topple the mightiest empire the world had ever seen.
From its humble origins as a rag-tag group of highly-motivated privateers to the most technologically and ever-present navy ever to exist. From the sail and lines of revolution; to the ironclads of a divided nation; to the steel hulls off the coast of Normandy; to the newest technologies at sea, in the air and beyond to the final frontier the Navy was, is and will forever be ready.
Ready then. Ready now. Ready always.
