  • Lt. Meredith Jaggers and Brazilian navy Petty Officer Silvana perform initial patient evaluation in Sao Joao Batista, Brazil, Aug. 10. This visit marks the third stop of a 26-day Brazil riverine humanitarian medical mission by five U.S. Navy and Air Forces physicians, a U.S. Navy nurse and their Brazilian counterparts deployed aboard the Brazilian navy hospital ship NAsH Doutor Montenegro (U16). The purpose of the mission is to exchange medical expertise, provide medical care to isolated communities along the Amazon River and serve as a capstone event for the U.S. Military Tropical Medicine Course.   • Chief petty officer selects, Sailors who have been selected for the paygrade of E-7, come together for Chief Heritage weeks aboard the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world, USS Constitution.   • The amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD 4) transits in formation through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The Boxer Amphibious Ready Group and 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) are deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.   • Sailors assigned to the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Antietam (CG 54) participate in a torpedo recovery exercise.
