  • Navy recruiters speak to people all over New York to raise Navy awareness during Navy Recruiting Command's (NRC) Swarm New York evolution in conjunction with Fleet Week New York 2019. Top recruiters from NRC, Navy Recruiting District (NRD) New York and various other recruiting commands from around the nation comprise a 153-person recruiting swarm team. Swarm is a new recruiting strategy in support of the national policy to build a 355-ship Navy. Fleet Week New York (FWNY) 2019 takes place from May 22-28, 2019. Held nearly every year since 1984, it is the city's celebration of the sea services. This year marks the 31st year. Jesus Morones, from Rialto, Calif., assigned to 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), fires an M4 carbine during a gun shoot on the flight deck of the amphibious dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49). The Boxer Amphibious Ready Group/11th MEU is deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to support regional stability, reassure partners and allies, and maintain a presence postured to respond to any crisis ranging from humanitarian assistance to contingency operations.
