Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. 4th Fleet (USNAVSO/FOURTHFLT) ordered U.S. Navy ships homeported at Naval Station Mayport to set Sortie Condition Alpha as Hurricane Dorian heads toward Florida's Atlantic coast.
US and Brazilian Medical Team Completes Amazon Humanitarian Mission  (30 August 2019)
Six U.S. military medical professionals deployed to Manaus, Brazil completed a 26-day Brazil Riverine humanitarian medical mission with their Brazilian navy counterparts to exchange medical expertise and to provide medical care to isolated communities along the Amazon River, Aug. 30.
UNITAS LX Exercise Strengthens Partnerships  (30 August 2019)
Brazil hosted over 3,100 personnel from 13 countries for the 60th anniversary of exercise UNITAS, the longest running multinational maritime exercise in the world, Aug. 18-30.
USS Wasp Enters 4th Fleet  (9 October 2019)
The amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) arrived in U.S. 4th Fleet area of operations Oct 1. The Wasp is transiting around South America while conducting a homeport shift from Japan to Norfolk.

The Southern Partnership Station (SPS) 2019 Medical Engagement Team (MET) conducted their final mass casualty drill with Peruvian military medical personnel culminating a month-long series of subject matter expert exchanges (SMEE) and field exercises, Oct. 21.
War College Event Held Aboard USS Wasp   (5 November 2019)
Twenty multinational naval officers assigned to the Combined Task Force (CTF) aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) participated in the first-ever U.S. Naval War College hosted classroom education course with a focus on humanitarian and disaster relief (HADR) planning.
