Future USS Little Rock to be Commissioned in Buffalo, New York  (19 October 2017)
SAN DIEGO (NNS) -- Secretary of the Navy Richard V. Spencer announced October 18 the newest Freedom-variant littoral combat ship, PCU Little Rock (LCS 9), will be commissioned during a ceremony Saturday, December 16 at Canalside Buffalo.
Future USS Ralph Johnson to be Commissioned in Charleston  (23 October 2017)
On Oct. 19, Secretary of the Navy Richard V. Spencer announced the newest Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer, Pre-Commissioning Unit Ralph Johnson (DDG 114), will be commissioned during a ceremony Saturday, March 24, 2018 in Charleston, South Carolina.

As part of a fleet visit to the Pacific Northwest, Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Adm. John Richardson spent three hours aboard USS Gridley (DDG 101) Nov. 15, where he told the crew, "I've got your back."
Charting New Course on Junior Officer Bridge Proficiency  (21 December 2017)
Twelve ensigns completed the first pilot Junior Officer of the Deck (JOOD) Course at Surface Warfare Officer Schools (SWOS) Command, Dec. 15. The course will be refined and informed by feedback received from the students and the fleet in the months ahead.
