Cmdr. William C. Bushman transferred leadership of Tactical Air Control Squadron (TACRON) 21 to Cmdr. John D. Shannon during a change of command ceremony held at Brashear Conference Center Feb. 6.
CNSL Visits USS Mesa Verde  (2 March 2015)
Rear Adm. Pete Gumataotao, commander, Naval Surface Forces Atlantic (CNSL) visited the amphibious transport dock ship USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19) while the ship is undergoing an extensive maintenance period Feb. 23.
Fire Aboard USS Gunston Hall   (3 March 2015)
Sailors aboard USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44) and the Portsmouth, Virginia, Fire and Rescue Department responded to a fire aboard the amphibious dock landing ship at approximately 2 p.m. while the ship was undergoing a maintenance availability at NASSCO/Earl Industries shipyard in Portsmouth, Va.
USS Wasp Is Back In the Fight  (26 March 2015)
For various reasons, the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) has not deployed since 2004. But after a highly successful combat systems ship qualification trial (CSSQT), Wasp has sent a clear, concise, and concussive message to the fleet: She is back in the fight.

Seabees from Amphibious Construction Battalions 1 and 2 (PHIBCB 1/PHIBCB 2) along with support from Construction Battalion Maintenance Units 202 and 303 began construction on the Elevated Causeway System - Modular (ELCAS-M) at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story in Norfolk, April 17.
