The Freedom-class littoral combat ship USS Detroit (LCS 7) departed its homeport of Mayport, Florida, for the U.S. Southern Command area of responsibility on its maiden deployment Oct. 31.

USS Mason Holds Change of Command  (25 November 2019)
Cmdr. Matthew Erdner relieved Cmdr. Terrence Frost as USS Mason (DDG 87), commanding officer Nov. 22, during a ceremony held aboard the ship at Naval Station Norfolk.
USS San Jacinto Holds Change of Command  (10 December 2019)
Capt. Eddie Crossman relieved Capt. Dennis L. Farrell as commanding officer of USS San Jacinto (CG 56), during a change of command ceremony held Dec. 9, aboard the ship at Naval Station Norfolk.
USS Indianapolis Crew Visits their Namesake  (17 January 2020)
The four crewmembers attended the Governor's State of the State presentation where they were introduced at the Indianapolis House and Senate as the fourth naval vessel named after the city and commissioned on Oct. 26, 2019.
USS Lassen Chief Named Independent Corpsman of Year   (20 January 2020)
Chief Hospital Corpsman Quintin Bright, who is currently deployed aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Lassen (DDG 82), was selected by the Commander, Naval Surface Force Atlantic (COMNAVSURFLANT) as the Surface Independent Duty Corpsman (IDC) of the Year for 2019.
