  • Chief Yeoman David O'Leary, assigned to the submarine tender USS Frank Cable (AS 40), is pinned to the rank of chief petty officer (CPO) by his son during a CPO pinning ceremony at Naval Base Guam.   • Families wave as the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Lassen (DDG 82) departs Naval Station Mayport. Lassen is among ships and units from the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group that formed a surface action group (SAG) and are deploying from their East Coast homeports of Norfolk, Va. and Mayport, Fla.   • An F/A-18F Super Hornet attached to the Jolly Rogers of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 103 and a C-2A Greyhound attached the Rawhides of Fleet Logistics Support Squadron (VRC) 40 launch from the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). The Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points. With Abraham Lincoln as the flagship, deployed strike group assets include staffs, ships and aircraft of Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 12, Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 2, the guided-missile cruiser USS Leyte Gulf (CG 55) and Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 7.
