  • The Navy's forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) sails alongside the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) guided-missile destroyer JS Myoko (DDG-175) while underway. The Navy and JMSDF regularly operate, train and exercise together to improve interoperability and strengthen joint capabilities. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the collective maritime interests of its allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region.   • Assault amphibious vehicles (AAV) assigned to the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) transit toward land after exiting the well deck of the amphibious dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49). Harpers Ferry is part of the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group and 11th MEU and is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
