  • The aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) approaches the fast combat support ship USNS Arctic (T-AOE 8) for a replenishment-at-sea. The Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points. With Abraham Lincoln as the flagship, deployed strike group assets include staffs, ships and aircraft of Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 12, Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 2, the guided-missile cruiser USS Leyte Gulf (CG 55) and Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 7.   • Chief Hospital Corpsman Richard Utley is pinned by his wife and his mother during the fiscal year 2020 chief petty officer (CPO) pinning ceremony aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68). Twenty-five Sailors were pinned to CPO during the ceremony. Nimitz is currently in port preparing for future operations. Flag Raised in Memory of 2014 Oso Landslide

On March 22, 2014, in a small town about an hour northeast of Naval Station Everett, a major landslide occurred in which 43 people were killed and 49 homes were destroyed. Of those people whose lives were lost, two victims were U.S. Navy Sailors.
