Rear Admiral Ann H. Duff

Rear Adm. Ann Duff is a native of Virginia and a graduate of the University of Maine, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and was commissioned via the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps program in 1990.  She is also a graduate of Western Governor’s University with a Master of Education in Instructional Design.

Her command tours include Navy Reserve (NR) U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Personnel Management (N1) Norfolk, Virginia; Navy Reserve (NR) Navy Recruiting Command (NRC), Millington, Tennessee; NR Naval Security Force, Charleston at Naval Weapons Station, Charleston, South Carolina.  Additionally, she served at Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) as veteran & wounded warrior program manager.  She mobilized to Djibouti, Africa where she served as director of personnel (J1), Combined Task Force, Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA).  In this role, she was responsible for administrative and personnel support for over 2,100 military personnel deployed to 10 African nations and 13 forward operation locations.

Her other assignments include assistant administrative officer at Naval Air Station Whiting Field, Florida; assistant billeting officer at Naval Air Station Memphis, Tennessee; executive officer, NR Commander Navy Region Mid-Atlantic; chief staff officer for NR NATO Deployable Operations Group; operations officer and maintenance and repair officer at Mobile Inshore Undersea Warfare Unit (MIUWU) 206; current operations officer for Special Operations Command, Pacific; assistant engineering officer, USS Frederick (LST 1184); administrative officer, MIUWU 209; area operations officer, Selective Service System Unit 22-7; assistant administrative officer, Naval Control of Shipping Office Unit 2292; and administrative officer, Personnel Mobilization Team 2922.

Duff’s awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal (two awards), Joint Achievement Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal and the Navy Achievement Medal (four awards).   She is a joint qualified officer, a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, certified as a Professional of Human Resources and holds an Advanced Certificate in Strategic Human Resources Management from Cornell University.
