Rear Adm. Paul Verrastro graduated from the State University of New York at Albany with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and was commissioned in May 1986 through the Officer Candidate School program in Newport, Rhode Island. He holds a Master of Science with distinction in Contract and Acquisition Management from the Naval Postgraduate School, as well as a Master of Arts with highest distinction in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College. He also completed the Executive Development Program at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business.
Verrastro’s sea duty assignments include tours as supply officer onboard USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) , USS Chandler (DDG 996), and USS New Jersey (BB 62). He was awarded the "Straight Furrow" Leadership Award for his time on USS John C Stennis.
He recently served as commander, Naval Supply Systems Weapons Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS) and as director, Logistics Programs and Business Operations in the Office of Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV N41).
His shore assignments include: commanding officer, NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center Pearl Harbor; director, aviation operations at NAVSUP Weapons Systems Support, Philadelphia; country program director for North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and Coalition Affairs, Defense Security Cooperation Agency; director, F/A-18 Integrated Weapons Support Team, Naval Inventory Control Point; deputy for supply policy, training and assessments, Commander, Naval Air Forces, San Diego; program manager for Fleet Requirements, Naval Regional Contracting Center, Naples, Italy; and supply corps officer detailer, Navy Personnel Command, Washington, District of Columbia.
Verrastro reported as director of logistics (J4), U.S. European Command, Stuttgart, Germany in July 2016. As the J4, he is responsible for integrating logistics planning and execution in support of joint operations to maximize the Joint Force Commander's freedom of action. He coordinates logistics, health readiness, engineering and humanitarian support for U.S. forces assigned to the United States European Command theater of operations.
He is a qualified joint service officer and a member of the Acquisition Professional Community.
Verrastro has earned supply warfare qualifications in aviation and surface warfare. His personal awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit Medal (three), Meritorious Service Medal (three), Navy Commendation Medal (four), Navy Achievement Medal (two) and various campaign and unit awards.
