Naval Base Kitsap to honor Battle of Midway 75th Anniversary

NAVAL BASE KITSAP-BREMERTON, Wash. (NNS) -- Capt. Alan Schrader, Naval Base Kitsap (NBK) commanding officer, will be the keynote speaker at the 75th Anniversary Battle of Midway Remembrance Ceremony, Tues., June 6 at 1 p.m. on the Bremerton waterfront boardwalk.

The Battle of Midway is regarded as one of the Navy's and the nation's most historically significant naval victories. The battle occurred June 3-7, 1942, and changed the tide of the war in the Pacific and the course of world history.

To remember and honor the sacrifices of those who participated, a wreath laying ceremony will be conducted. Additionally, Navy Band Northwest will provide music for the event, and the World Famous Black Ravens of Electronic Attack Squadron One Three Five (VAQ-135), out of Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, will provide an EA-18G Growler flyover.
