GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba (NNS) -- Members of the W.T. Sampson Unit School 2011 senior class sold T-shirts at the Bayview aboard Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Jan. 20.

The T-shirts were sold to raise money for a senior trip off island during spring break.

Fundraising locations included the Navy Exchange atrium and the Bayview aboard Naval Station Guantanamo Bay.

"The class will be selling Radio GTMO (Guantanamo) T-shirts, W.T. Sampson High School shirts and a shirt the seniors designed this year called 'GTMO Life,'" said Tanner Torley, the senior class vice president. "Besides selling shirts, they will be having bake sales, car washes and alive auction."

"Currently, we are about half way to our goal, which is about $7,000," said Torley.

The seniors raise money by selling T-shirts every Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and every Saturday at the Navy Exchange until 2 p.m.

"This is important to us, not because we are the only seniors on the island, but because this trip is a tradition and a great way for us to experience the world outside of GTMO before we go to college," said Gabriel Montalvo, the senior class president.

The trip is an eight-day cruise to Mexico, Panama and Costa Rica.
