GSA Provides Pilot Plug-in Hybird Electric Vehicle to NAVFAC

WASHINGTON (NNS) -- The General Services Administration (GSA) presented Naval Facilities Engineering Command Headquarters (NAVFAC) a Chevy Volt electric vehicle as part of a Department of Defense (DOD) and GSA Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) Pilot project, Oct. 20.

NAVFAC Headquarters was the recipient of one of two vehicles presented and the U.S. Department of Treasury was the recipient of the second Chevy Volt.

Deputy Assistant to the Secretary of the Navy for Energy, Tom Hicks was the senior Navy official attending the ceremony and spoke on behalf of the Navy.

"Many thanks to GSA for all of your efforts," said Hicks. "This is a positive step in the direction to meet Secretary of the Navy's (SECNAV's) energy goals and to reduce petroleum use in commercial vehicles by 50 percent by 2015."
