CHEATHAM ANNEX, Va (NNS) -- The command master chief of Navy Cargo Handling Battalion (NCHB) 4 was relieved of duty March 14 by the commodore of 2nd Navy Expeditionary Logistics Regiment (NELR), at Cheatham Annex, Va.

Capt. Charles Rink relieved Master Chief Logistics Specialist Scott Splitgerber, U.S. Navy Reserve, due to misconduct he committed while assigned as the command master chief of NCHB 4.

Splitgerber received non-judicial punishment (NJP) for the offenses he committed.

During NJP, Splitgerber was found to have committed fraternization and to have made a false official statement. The NJP was in response to an investigation into allegations of fraternization that were reported by a member of the command.

Splitgerber will now drill with the 2nd NELR.

Senior Chief Boatswain's Mate Steve Turner, assigned to NCHB 4, will assume duties as the command's acting senior enlisted leader. Turner is familiar with the current operations of NCHB 4 as well as the needs of the command and its Sailors.
