VILLEFRANCHE, France (NNS) -- Guided missile destroyer USS Truxtun (DDG 103) departed the southern French port of Villefranche following a routine port visit to Villefranche, France, Nov. 4.

While in port, Truxtun sailors participated in a variety of recreational activities ranging from scheduled tours and wine tasting to museum visits and partaking in the unique and ancient cuisine of the region.

Truxtun's Commanding Officer, Cmdr. Drew Bates, remarked that, "the port visit was an outstanding opportunity for our Sailors and a chance for them to experience the culture of our oldest ally."

Truxtun, homeported in Norfolk, Virginia, is deployed as part of the George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group, which is conducting naval operations in the U.S. 6th fleet area of operations in support of national security interests in Europe.
