MEDITERRANEAN SEA (NNS) -- Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 7, embarked aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) is primarily responsible for executing prompt and sustained combat actions from sea in support of Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR).
Close air support missions deliver precision guided ordnance, supporting forces on the grounds that are battling dynamic targets. The flexibility close air support sorties bring is the ability to conduct kinetic engagements where it is needed most at any given time.
"The Sailors aboard USS Harry S. Truman have shown their unwavering dedication during our sustained combat operations while deployed in the 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operation. These professionals have enabled us to precisely deliver more ordnance than any other aircraft carrier in U.S. history in support of OIR objectives." - Capt.
