Bornholm, Denmark (Jun. 17, 2003) -- U.S. Marine Reservists assigned to 3rd Platoon, Fox Company, 2nd Battalion from Milwaukee, Wis., prepare for possible hostilities while securing a perimeter on the island of Bornholm during the annual maritime exercise Baltic Operations (BALTOPS) 2003. The United States and 12 other nations are participating in this year's exercise. BALTOPS 2003 is intended to improve interoperability between allies and Partnership for Peace countries by conducting a peace support operation at sea including exercises in gunnery, replenishment-at-sea, undersea warfare, radar tracking, mine countermeasures, seamanship, search and rescue, maritime interdiction operations, and scenarios dealing with potentially real world crises. Both airmen are mobilized reservists assigned to the "Islanders" of Reserve Fleet Logistics Support Squadron Six One (VR-61). The U.S. Navy Seabees and Japanese Master Labor Contract employees assigned to Naval Air Facility Misawa's Public Works Department spread concrete for a massive pavilion at Misawa Air Base's Gosser Memorial Golf Course. When completed, the multi-purpose covered pavilion will measure 24 by 40 feet and hold up to 75 people.
