NAVAL STATION MAYPORT, Fla. (Nov. 2, 2012) Capt. Douglas Cochrane, commanding officer of Naval Station Mayport, joined by Rear Adm.(ret) Victor Guillory, Director of Military Affairs, Veterans and Disabled Services, Mark Lee, vice president for Brand Development for Florida Blue, Alvin Brown, Mayor of Jacksonville, Rear. Adm. Jack Scorby Jr., commander of Navy Region Southeast and Capt. Erik Ross, commanding officer of the multipurpose amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5), addresses the media during a press conference following Bataan's arrival at Naval Station Mayport. Bataan is in Mayport to participate in the city of Jacksonville's "Week of Valor" and host the Navy-Marine Corps Classic between the University of Florida and Georgetown University put on by the city of Jacksonville which, along with its surrounding communities, has a long tradition of supporting Sailors and Marines. The game honors veterans, active and reserve service members, and military families.
