Painting and preservation aboard CVN 70
Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, WA (Apr. 18, 2002) -- Airman Beverly Wong from Wichita, KS, prepares a bulkhead for a painting and preservation team. Sailors make up many of the temporarily assigned renovation teams, responsible for the refurbishment of the aircraft carrier while in the shipyard. Carl Vinson and her crew are conducting a Planned Incremental Availability (PIA) designed to install new technology and extend the operational capability of the ship.
