BATH, Maine (May 14, 2018) Irene Hirano Inouye stands next to the authenticated keel plate of the future guided-missile destroyer USS Daniel Inouye (DDG 118) with her welded initials at Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine, May 14, 2018. Inouye is the ship's sponsor and widow of the ship's namesake, Hawaii Sen. Daniel Inouye, a Medal of Honor recipient. DDG 118 will be built in the Flight IIA configuration with the Aegis Baseline 9 Combat System, which includes Integrated Air and Missile Defense capability.
