USS Cole (DDG 67) hosted a pierside ceremony at Naval Station Norfolk Oct. 12, the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attack on Cole, to honor the Sailors killed and to celebrate the heroism of the ship’s crew. On October 10, 2020, a Department of the Navy civilian employee assigned to Naval Surface Warfare Center – Panama City Division, died at a local hospital. The apparent cause of death was from complications associated with the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and coworkers of the deceased during this difficult time.
