Vice Adm. Mike Dumont is a native of Brunswick, Maine, and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. In addition to a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Southern Maine, Dumont holds a Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School. He also holds a Master of Science in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College and a Master of Science in National Security Strategy from the National War College.
He served five years on active duty as an Army aviator and paratrooper. Upon leaving the Army, he affiliated with the U.S. Navy Reserve as a naval aviator. Dumont has held five commands including an air squadron, several operational units, and a joint command.

Dumont retired in March 2021 after serving as the deputy commander of U.S. Northern Command and as vice commander of the U.S. Element of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).
