Rear Adm. Tom Reck is a native of Southampton, Pennsylvania, and a 1985 graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is also a graduate of the Naval War College and Joint Forces Staff College. He is a graduate of National Defense University, Naval War College, Naval Postgraduate School, Harvard Executive Education and NATO School curriculums. He served as a catapult and arresting gear officer (Shooter) and as an air department division officer while completing a Western Pacific deployment in support of Operation Southern Watch. Reck transitioned to the Reserve Component in 1995 with the “Minutemen” of VP-92. He served in a variety of billets before assuming command in 2004. During his tenure as executive officer and commanding officer, VP-92 was awarded the Noel Davis Trophy “Battle E”, the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Safety “S” Award and the Golden Wrench for maintenance excellence.
