Vice Adm. Marc Miguez is a native of New Iberia, Louisiana. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in December 1985. Upon completing recruit training in June 1986, he reported to 3rd Force Reconnaissance Company. During his tour, he completed numerous military schools and deployments, including Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

He attended the University of South Alabama and received a Bachelor of Arts in June 1993. In March 1994, he earned his commission through the U.S. Navy’s Aviation Officer Candidate School at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida. He completed flight school and was designated a Naval Flight Officer in May 1995. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff College, where he earned a Master of Arts in Military Studies.

Miguez has accumulated over 4,000 flight hours in the F-14 and F/A-18 and completed over 1,000 carrier-arrested landings. His awards include the Distinguished Service Medal (including ‘C’ device), Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit (two awards), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Air Medal (four Strike Flight Awards), and several other personal and unit campaign awards..

His operational assignments include the “Diamondbacks” of Strike Fighter Squadron (VF 102), the “Pukin’ Dogs” of Strike Fighter Squadron (VF 143), and the “Bullets” of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA 2), which have included service in Operations Southern Watch, Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, New Dawn, and Yukon Lightning. Miguez commanded the “Blacklions” of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA 213), Carrier Air Wing (CVW 3), and Carrier Strike Group TWO (CSG 2) during a historic 2023-2024 deployment onboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69).

Ashore assignments include liaison officer to the National Counter Terrorism Center for U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM); Naval Aviation Programs and deputy director, Navy Programs representative to Congress, Navy Office of Legislative Affairs; executive assistant to the Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet; deputy director for Operations, Joint Operations Intelligence Center, J3, Joint Staff; and Navy Chief of Legislative Affairs. He assumed duties as Commander, U.S. 3rd Fleet in July 2026.
