Rear Adm. Reginald Hendrix is a native of Savannah, Georgia. He graduated from Savannah State College with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology and holds a Master of Business Administration from Howard University. He entered the Navy through the Baccalaureate Degree Completion Program and earned his commission in 1993 upon graduating from Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island.
His active-duty operational assignments include communications officer, auxiliary officer and assistant chief engineer aboard USS O’Bannon (DD 987). Hendrix transitioned into the Navy Reserve in 2000. His reserve operational assignments include serving as executive officer of Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station European and Central Detachment “O,” commanding officer of Reserve Destroyer Squadron 22 Detachment Bravo and Inshore Boat Unit 27. With the establishment of the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, he was selected as the first commanding officer of Maritime Expeditionary Boat Division 102. He also commanded the Navy Reserve U.S. Central Command Individual Mobilization Augmentee Detachment, supporting Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
His active-duty staff assignments include action officer for Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Installations and Logistics (OPNAV N4) in Washington, D.C. Hendrix mobilized as a reservist in 2010 as the engagement planner for the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa. Following his mobilization, he served as a company commander at Coastal Riverine Squadron 10 in Jacksonville, Florida. His subsequent command tours include leading the Naval Cooperation and Guidance for Shipping Headquarters and the Navy Reserve Expeditionary Strike Group 3. Prior to his current role, he served as the deputy commander for Maritime Expeditionary Security Group 2 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He assumed the duties of Deputy Commander, Navy Expeditionary Combat Command on Oct. 1, 2024.
Rear Adm. Hendrix is a qualified Surface Warfare Officer. His personal awards include Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, and Joint Service Commendation Medal, along with various joint service and unit awards.
