Rear Adm. Kevin Corcoran is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and son of an enlisted Marine. He graduated from Villanova University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and earned dual Master of Business Administration and Master of Public Policy from Duke University. He has completed Joint Professional Military Education from the Naval War College and National Defense University Joint Forces Staff College.
Corcoran served as executive officer and operations officer, Navy Cargo Handling Battalion (NCHB) 8; executive officer, Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Navy Reserve (NR) Headquarters; supply officer, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 27; training officer, Defense Contract Management Agency – Baltimore; and training officer, assistant air cargo company commander, and headquarters company commander, NCHB 10. He has also performed extended periods on orders as air terminal operations officer in support of Operation Enduring Freedom during Naval Support Activity Souda Bay's highest op-tempo in command history, as well as standing up Forward Logistics Site Akrotiri in the eastern Mediterranean on the eve and initial weeks of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He has participated in numerous fleet and joint exercises in U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, U.S. Central Command, and U.S. European Command theaters. He has completed deployments to Iraq with 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing and to Afghanistan as operations officer for Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) mission in sustaining forces and executing a historic drawdown and base closure and transfer process.
Corcoran’s command assignments include commodore, 5th Navy Expeditionary Logistics Regiment; commanding officer, NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center, Puget Sound NR; NCHB 8; and commanding officer, DLA Distribution, Susquehanna. In his last role as deputy commander, Navy Expeditionary Logistics Support Group, he was the first Supply Corps Reserve officer selected for sequential major command.
He is qualified as a Navy Expeditionary Supply Corps Officer and Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist and was selected as the nationwide 2005 Navy Junior Officer of the Year by the Reserve Officers’ Association. His personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and various additional awards. He has earned both 1205 Air and 1215 Shipboard Cargo Handling Officer Navy Officer Billet Classifications.
