Rear Admiral Thomas M. Ogden

Rear Adm. Ogden, is a native of Falls Church, Virginia and graduated in 1998 from the United States Naval Academy. He holds a Master of Arts in Strategic Studies from Georgetown University.

His operational assignments include 2nd Division Officer and Electrical Officer aboard USS Duluth (LPD 6), Navigator on USS Paul Hamilton (DDG 60), Operations Officer aboard USS Kidd (DDG 100) and USS Mobile Bay (CG 53), Executive Officer and Commanding Officer of USS Chung-Hoon (DDG 93). He was the Deputy Commodore and then Commodore of Destroyer Squadron Seven, forward deployed to Singapore.

His staff assignments include service at Joint Interagency Task Force South; Executive Assistant to the Director for Operations and Future Operations Planner, U.S. Pacific Command; Director of the Strategic Initiatives Group, U.S. Pacific Fleet; White House Fellow and Special Assistant to the Director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management; Deputy Director for Plans, Policy, and Integration (N5B) OPNAV Staff; and Executive Assistant to Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet.

His awards and decorations from serving on winning teams include the Battle Efficiency (3 awards), Joint Meritorious Unit Citation (3 awards), Humanitarian Service Medal, and other individual and unit awards. He is the co-author of the professional naval books “Division Officer’s Guide” and “Watch Officer’s Guide.”

Rear Adm. Ogden assumed duties as Deputy Director for Operations, U.S. Pacific Command in July 2026.
