Rear Admiral Michael Sciretta

Rear Adm. Scott Sciretta is a native of New Jersey. He is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University where he was commissioned in January 1992 thru the Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps program. He holds a Master of Science in Operations Research from the Naval Post Graduate School and is a graduate of the Navy Executive Development Course from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia, a graduate of the National Security Studies Course from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University, and a graduate of the Joint Forces Staff College.

His sea tours include auxiliaries officer and main propulsion assistant aboard USS Juneau (LPD 10), fire control officer aboard USS Cowpens (CG 63), operations officer aboard both USS The Sullivans (DDG 68) and USS Vicksburg (CG 69). Sciretta commanded Mine Countermeasures Ship Crew Fearless aboard USS Chief (MCM 14) and USS Ardent (MCM 12). Crew Fearless earned consecutive Battle Efficiency Awards and the 2005 Marjorie Sterrett Battleship Award. Sciretta commissioned and commanded USS Jason Dunham (DDG 109). During final contract trials, Jason Dunham earned the highest scores on record of any Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer. He also commanded USS Cowpens (CG 63) and USS Lake Erie (CG 70).

Ashore he served two tours at Navy Personnel Command as Surface Placement, Surface Junior Officer sea coordinator, Assistant Surface Captain assignment officer and deputy director, Surface Warfare Distribution Division in PERS 41 and as executive assistant to the Deputy Chief of Naval Personnel / Commander, Navy Personnel Command (DCNP/CNPC EA) ; NATO Joint Analysis Lessons Learned Center in Lisbon, Portugal where he conducted joint analysis in Afghanistan in support of the NATO International Security Assistance Force mission ; deputy chief of Legislative Affairs ; and director of the Navy Senate Liaison Office where he travelled extensively abroad with members of congress.

As a Flag Officer, he served as Commander Standing NATO Maritime Group TWO / CTG 441.02, NATOs Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (Maritime) and as the Deputy Commander, Joint Interagency Task Force South / Commander, Task Group 4.1 comprised of U.S. and multi-national air and maritime forces conducting the counter illicit trafficking mission in the SOUTHCOM AOR.

His personal awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal (2 awards), Legion of Merit (4 awards), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Navy Commendation Medal (5 awards), the Navy Achievement Medal (two awards), and various campaign, expeditionary and unit awards.
