Rear Admiral Eric J. “Pappy” Anduze

Rear Adm. Eric J. Anduze is a native of Manati, Puerto Rico. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1993, earning a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering. He subsequently entered flight training and was designated a naval aviator in 1996.

Operationally, he has served in numerous fighter squadrons flying the F-14A/B/D and FA-18E/F. His fleet assignments include the Black Aces of Fighter Squadron (VF) 41, Black Knights of Fighter Squadron (VF) 154 and Pukin’ Dogs of Fighter Squadron (VF) 143. He commanded the Pukin’ Dogs of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 143, USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19) and USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71). He deployed multiple times in support of operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, Allied Force/Noble Anvil and Inherent Resolve on USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63), USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67), USS Eisenhower (CVN 69), USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71), and USS George Washington (CVN 73).

Ashore, Anduze’s assignments include duties at Fighter Squadron (VF) 101 where he served as the pilot strike phase tactics officer, Joint Forces Command where he served in the Joint Concepts Branch of the Directorate for Joint Experimentation (J-7), Commander Naval Air Forces Atlantic Fleet where he served as assistant chief of staff for Aviation Training and Readiness (N40) and as assistant chief of staff for Carrier Requirements (N82), and as the Deputy Commander, Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, Djibouti, Djibouti.

Anduze is a graduate of Navy’s Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN), Joint Staff College and the Navy Nuclear Power Program. He has accumulated more than 3,500 mishap free flight hours and more than 900 carrier-arrested landings. His personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Strike/Flight Air Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

In June 2024, Anduze assumed the duties as the Deputy Director Joint Training, Joint Staff J7 in Suffolk, VA.
