Rear Admiral Marcos “DB” Jasso

Rear Admiral Marcos Jasso was raised in Tucson, Arizona, as the son of a U.S. Air Force Tech Sergeant. At 17, he took the Oath of Enlistment and entered the Navy’s Delayed Entry Program. Beginning his career as an enlisted Sailor, he quickly earned his submarine warfare qualification and advanced to first class petty officer as a Sonar Technician Submarines (STS1(SS)). Rear Adm. Jasso was commissioned as an Ensign through Officer Candidate School, NAS Pensacola, FL in 1997.

Rear Adm. Jasso's operational command tours include the Commanding Officer of VFA-41 Black Aces (F/A-18F Squadron) and Commander, Carrier Air Wing THREE (CAG CVW-3/Battle Axe). He also served in operational squadrons VFA-22 Redcocks and VFA-154 Black Knights. During these operational assignments he completed multiple deployments aboard USS Enterprise (CVN-65), USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69), USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74), and USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76), supporting Operation Southern Watch, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Inherent Resolve, Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, and multiple Western Pacific security and presence deployments. Under Rear Adm. Jasso’s leadership as CAG, the Battle Axe Air Wing and the "IKE" team were awarded the prestigious Commander, Naval Air Forces' (CNAF) RAMAGE AWARD as the best combat team across all CVW/CVN teams on the East and West Coasts or Forward Deployed Naval Forces.

Rear Adm. Jasso shore assignments include Instructor Duty with VFA-122 Flying Eagles, Operational Flight Test Engineer with VX-9 Vampires at Detachment Nellis AFB, and studies at the Naval War College. His staff assignments include the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) in Chantilly, VA and qualified as navy Space Cadre officer; Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington DC, as the Hornet Requirements Officer and Special Programs Branch Head for the Air Warfare Division (OPNAV N98); and as Director of Operations (N3) for the Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet.

Throughout his career, Rear Adm. Jasso has worked alongside the Navy's finest Sailors, resulting in numerous personal awards and recognitions, including the William J. Dey Junior Officer Leadership Award, F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet Instructor of the Year, Admiral Wesley L. McDonald Leadership Award for Strike Fighter Wing Pacific, and the CNAF's Navy and Marine Corps Association Peer Leadership Award on multiple occasions. Additionally, he was the Tailhooker of the Year (2021) selected by the Tailhook Association, Board of Directors. Rear Adm. Jasso is graduate of the U.S. Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) and holds a Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a Master’s in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.

Rear Adm. Jasso assumed duties as the Deputy Director, Strategy, Plans, and Policy (DJ5) for U.S. Space Command in July 2024.
