Rear Admiral Liam M. Hulin grew up abroad in England, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Scotland, the United Arab Emirates, and Austria. He graduated the United States Naval Academy in 1996 where he studied Mechanical Engineering, minored in French and was captain of the Boxing Team. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Webster University and a Master of International Affairs from the University of California San Diego. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and the Defense Language Institute for Arabic Studies. He began his career as a SEAL after completing Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training class 209 and U.S. Army Ranger School in 1997.

His operational assignments include duty as an Assistant Platoon Commander with SEAL Team THREE and Platoon Commander tours with EOD Group ONE’s Very Shallow Water Mine Countermeasures Detachment and Plank Owner at SEAL Team SEVEN. At Naval Special Warfare Development Group, he served in TACDEVRON TWO as a Troop Commander, Operations Officer, and Executive Officer before serving as the TACDEVRON THREE Commanding Officer. He served as Deputy Commander for Naval Special Warfare Development Group, Deputy Commodore for Naval Special Warfare Group ONE and as the Commander of Naval Special Warfare Development Group.

Ashore, he served as the Commanding Officer for Naval Special Warfare Basic Training Command.  His staff assignments include serving as the Executive Officer to the Commander of JSOC. He has served as a Special Assistant to the Naval Special Warfare Commander and as the Executive Officer to the Commander of USSOCOM. In his current assignment, he serves as the Deputy Director of Operations for U.S. Central Command.
