America is a maritime nation. Since before our Nation’s inception, the Navy has sailed the globe in defense of freedom. In 2025, the Navy celebrated its 250th birthday with a series of commemorative events, multilateral exercises, and community engagements. 

 

In 2026, the Navy will again commemorate its contribution to the Nation’s defense as part of a whole-of-government 250 celebration planned by the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission. The Navy will host port calls and community outreach engagements in major U.S. cities. The International Naval Review will culminate the events as a maritime highlight.

 

Over the course of this two-year effort, the Navy will inform and engage audiences about how it safeguards U.S. national security, supports our Allies and partners, and remains essential to sustaining America’s prosperity and protecting U.S. interests around the globe.
