Rear Admiral Christopher A. Nash

Rear Adm. Christopher A. Nash, from College Station, Texas, graduated with distinction from the United States Naval Academy in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in systems engineering. He earned a Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School and a Master of Military Operational Art and Science from the Air Command and Staff College.

His sea tours include as navigations/operations officer of USS Montpelier (SSN 765), executive officer of USS Key West (SSN 722), commanding officer of USS Wyoming (SSBN 742) gold crew, commanding officer of USS Florida (SSGN 728) blue crew, and commodore of Submarine Squadron 16.

His tours ashore include chief of naval operations submarine warfare directorate (N97) as the UUV and TLAM requirements officer, joint staff (J-8), deputy chief of staff for Submarine Group 10, deputy commodore of Submarine Squadron 16, assistant director to the deputy assistant secretary of the Navy for Budget, executive assistant to the vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and as U.S. Pacific Fleet’s director of maritime headquarters and theater sustainment. He currently serves as the commander of Submarine Group Nine.

His personal decorations include the Jack Darby Award for Inspirational Leadership and Excellence in Command, the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and the Navy Meritorious Service Medal, and two Arleigh Burke Fleet Trophies for the most improved unit among various other service and unit awards.
