Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Pearl Harbor is providing critical logistical support for Hawaii-based ships to sortie in preparation for Hurricane Lane.
Logisticians from NAVSUP FLC Pearl Harbor are ready to provide vital support in routine and emergency situations. “Readiness is critically important,” said NAVSUP FLC Pearl Harbor Customer Service Officer Lt. Amber Drayton. “We train and plan for this type of event in order to provide immediate support.”
The team provided high priority Casualty Repair (CASREP) parts, warehousing for material, fuel and expedited the onloads of provisions that directly enabled the ships to get underway to avoid the storm.
The Navy orders a sortie during potentially extreme weather conditions to reduce the risk of significant damage to ships and piers during high winds and seas.
“Our support efforts will continue.” said Drayton. “We are filling sandbags, staging fuel trucks, and providing around-the-clock surveillance of piers as the storm approaches with server weather.”
NAVSUP FLC Pearl Harbor is actively carrying out a emergency management plan (EMP), stood up the logistics operations center (LOC) and is coordinating with Commander, Navy Region Hawaii to provide further supply support services.
NAVSUP FLC Pearl Harbor is one of eight FLCs under Commander, NAVSUP. Headquartered in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and employing a diverse, worldwide workforce of more than 22,500 military and civilian personnel, NAVSUP's mission is to provide supplies, services, and quality-of-life support to the Navy and joint warfighter.
