Local military leaders will unveil a new MRI suite at the MCAS Miramar Branch Health Clinic Monday.

The $2.3 million MRI will directly support the more than 12,000 patients enrolled at the Miramar clinic. The machine provides full diagnostic capabilities for musculoskeletal imaging of the shoulder, knees, and other major joints.

"We are ecstatic to house the first MRI machine outside of the main medical center. This gives us the opportunity to provide the highest quality diagnostic imaging to our providers and for our beneficiaries in the North County region, especially to our war fighters here on MCAS Miramar," said Cmdr. Darryl Sol, Branch Health Clinic Miramar Department Head. "We are committed to providing the most accurate, safe and convenient care to our patients."

Rear Adm. Bruce Gillingham, Navy Medicine West Commander, Capt. Jose Acosta, Naval Medical Center San Diego Commanding Officer, and Col. Jason Woodworth, MCAS Miramar Commanding Officer, will join the Miramar healthcare team in the ribbon cutting ceremony.
