More than 50 children recently joined their parents and guardians at NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS) Philadelphia for the 20th annual Bring Your Children to Work Day program.

The program gave children ranging from ages eight to 18 the opportunity to learn about the important day-to-day contributions their parents and guardians make working for the United States Navy.

During his welcoming remarks, Scott Morrow, deputy director of the Engineering and Product Support Directorate, emphasized this year's theme, #MPower (Empower).

"Today is your chance to experience something different and learn something new that you can possibly share with your friends at school tomorrow. My hope is that you follow in the footsteps of your parents and one day help to make the world a better place," said Morrow.

This year's program included tours of the static display aircraft on NAVSUP WSS' front lawn and, Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support's Veterans Medal Works, Flag Room where the presidential flags are created, and clothing and textile operations.

The day centered around the landing of a Boeing CH-47 Chinook helicopter on Naval Support Activity Philadelphia's baseball field. Children and their parents and guardians took advantage of the opportunity to take pictures and meet the helicopter pilots and crew.

"Today was just amazing, I had so much fun," said Myles Millican, age 7, son of Tiffany Millican, Common Systems Logistics management specialist. "The most exciting part of the day was seeing an actual helicopter land!"

NAVSUP WSS's annual Bring Your Children to Work Day event is sponsored by the NAVSUP WSS Command Equal Employment Opportunity Advisory Committee (EEOAC). The EEOAC is comprised of a diverse group of employees with different experiences, goals, and ideas, working together to produce programs and events that enrich the culture and education within NAVSUP WSS.

A field activity of the Naval Supply Systems Command, NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS) is the U.S. Navy's supply chain manager providing worldwide support to the aviation, surface ship, and submarine communities. NAVSUP WSS provides Navy, Marine Corps, joint and allied forces with products and services that deliver combat capability through logistics.
