On March 24, 2020 a service member assigned to Navy Recruiting District (NRD) New York tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

On March 24, 2020 a service member assigned to Navy Recruiting District (NRD) New York tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). The service member is currently in their residence in Saint Albans, NY and is following medical guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Guidelines.

The service member began experiencing symptoms on Monday, March 16.  On Friday, March 20 the member visited an urgent care facility on Union Turnpike to test for COVID-19, then returned to self-quarantine in residence.  On March 24 the service member’s test results came back positive for COVID-19. Four other service members, who had been in contact with the infected service member, have been in self-isolation since March 24.  They will remain in self-isolation for the prescribed time of 14 days.  Navy Recruiting District New York is following the guidelines set forth by the Department of Defense.

NRD New York is committed to taking every measure possible to protect the health of our force. We remain in close coordination with state and federal authorities, and public health authorities to ensure the well-being of our personnel and local population.
