The Department of Defense pays tribute to the generations of Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) who have enriched our nation's history and who continue to be pivotal to our success as a nation as we move into the future. “The Navy takes enormous pride in maintaining a diverse force that reflects the cultural richness of the country we serve,” said Juliet Beyler, executive director NAVEUR-NAVAF. “This month is more than an opportunity to celebrate a proud history; this is a time to build the foundation for an even brighter future.” This year’s theme chosen by The Federal Asian Pacific American Council is “Advancing Leaders Through Purpose-Driven Service.” “Americans of Asian and Pacific Islander decent have proven to be great leaders and have made great contributions to our organization,” said Senior Chief Logistics Specialist Baby Wakefield. “I know that there are endless notable names who continue to lead with purpose and service to others not only in our Navy, but in all branches of our Armed Forces. When purpose and passion are combined with our Core Values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment, the exponential impact is powerful to the entire community and U.S. Navy.” AAPI encompass a diverse group of cultures, ethnicities, races, and languages. The group includes all Americans who trace their ancestry back to the Asian continent and the many Pacific Islands of Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. NAVEUR-NAVAF-SIXTHFLT, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied and interagency partners in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.
