The following reports the results of Special and General Courts-Martial tried and completed within the United States Navy in June 2018. The cases are listed by the Navy Region in which they were tried.

* At a General Court-Martial in Washington, D.C., Petty Officer 1st Class Salvador Jacinto, USN, was tried for two specifications of rape of a child less than 12 years old, five specifications of sexual abuse of a child, and two specifications of child endangerment. On June 26, 2018, the panel of members returned a verdict of guilty to two specifications of rape of a child, three specifications of sexual abuse of a child, and two specifications of child endangerment and sentenced him to be discharged with a Bad Conduct Discharge and confinement for eight years.

* At a Special Court-Martial in Norfolk, Virginia, Petty Officer 3rd Class Ryant L. Denton, USN, was tried for false official statement, abusive sexual contact, and assault consummated by a battery. On June 20, 2018, the panel of members returned a verdict of guilty to assault consummated by a battery and sentenced him to forfeit $803 per month for three months, and restriction for 45 days.

* At a General Court-Martial in Oak Harbor, Washington, an E-3 was tried for rape. On June 11, 2018, the panel of members returned a verdict of not guilty.
* At a Special Court-Martial in Bremerton, Washington, Airman Apprentice Ryan C. Goodyear, USN, pled guilty pursuant to a pretrial agreement to false official statement and wrongful use of a controlled substance. On June 6, 2018, the military judge sentenced him to reduction in rank to paygrade E-1, and confinement for four months. Pursuant to the pretrial agreement, all confinement greater than 90 days is to be suspended. The suspended confinement may be served if the Service Member violates the terms of the pretrial agreement. The pretrial agreement contained a waiver of the accused’s administrative separation board.
* At a Special Court-Martial in Bremerton, Washington, Airman Nolan T. Stelz, USN, pled guilty pursuant to a pretrial agreement to one specification of wrongful possession of drug paraphernalia inside a barracks room, two specifications of wrongful possession of a controlled substance, two specifications of wrongful use of a controlled substance, and one specification of wrongful introduction of a controlled substance onto a naval base. On June 18, 2018, the military judge sentenced him to reduction in rank to paygrade E-1 and confinement for four months. The pretrial agreement had no effect on his sentence. The pretrial agreement contained a waiver of the accused’s administrative separation board.
*At a Special Court-Martial in Bremerton, Washington, Petty Officer 3rd Class Alex M. Cameron, USN, pled guilty pursuant to a pretrial agreement to unauthorized absence and missing movement. On June 22, 2018, the military judge sentenced him to reduction in rank to paygrade E-1 and confinement for 70 days. The pretrial agreement had no effect on his sentence. The pretrial agreement contained a waiver of the accused’s administrative separation board.
* At a Special Court-Martial in Bremerton, Washington, Petty Officer 3rd Class Aundre J. Cerda, USN, pled guilty pursuant to a pretrial agreement to two specifications of use of a controlled substance. On June 22, 2018, the military judge sentenced him to reduction in rank to paygrade E-2 and confinement for 45 days. The pretrial agreement had no effect on his sentence. The pretrial agreement contained a waiver of the accused’s administrative separation board.

* At a Special Court-Martial in San Diego, California, Airman Apprentice Bradley D. Dotson, USN, pled guilty pursuant to a pretrial agreement to two specifications of wrongful use of a controlled substance and one specification of wrongful distribution of a controlled substance. On June 12, 2018, the military judge sentenced him to be discharged with a Bad Conduct Discharge and confinement for nine months. Pursuant to the pretrial agreement, all confinement greater than six months is to be suspended. The suspended punishment may be served if the Service Member violates the terms of the pretrial agreement. The pretrial agreement contained a waiver of the accused’s administrative separation board.
* At a Special Court-Martial in San Diego, California, Petty Officer 2nd Class Jack A. Nehs, USN, pled guilty pursuant to a pretrial agreement to obstruction of justice. On June 21, 2018, the military judge sentenced him to be discharged with a Bad Conduct Discharge and confinement for 120 days. Pursuant to the pretrial agreement, any discharge and all confinement is to be suspended. The suspended punishment may be served if the Service Member violates the terms of the pretrial agreement. The pretrial agreement contained a waiver of the accused’s administrative separation board.
Navy Region Hawaii
* At a General Court-Martial in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Petty Officer 1st Class Damon Hedgecock, USN, pled not guilty to attempted murder, maiming, and obstruction of justice. On June 19, 2018, the panel of members found him guilty of aggravated assault (a lesser included offense of attempted murder), maiming and obstruction of justice. The members sentenced the accused to be discharged with a Dishonorable Discharge, reduction in rank to paygrade E-1 and confinement for 10 years.
* At a General Court-Martial in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Petty Officer 2nd Class Brendan Sutherland, USN, pled guilty to one specification of assault consummated by a battery On June 20, 2018, the Military Judge sentenced him to reduction in rank to paygrade E-3 and confinement for 60 days. Pursuant to the pretrial agreement reduction in rank below the paygrade of E-4 and confinement above 30 days is to be disapproved.
Navy Region Japan
* At a General Court-Martial in Yokosuka, Japan, Petty Officer 2nd Class Fabian Moreno, USN, pled guilty pursuant to a pretrial agreement to two specifications of attempted sexual abuse of a child. On June 8, 2018, the military judge sentenced him to be discharged with a Dishonorable Discharge and confinement for 18 months. Pursuant to the pretrial agreement, the Dishonorable Discharge will be reduced to a Bad Conduct Discharge.
* At a Special Court-Martial in Yokosuka, Japan, Seaman Raul Depena, USN, pled guilty pursuant to a pretrial agreement to assault consummated by a battery. On June 1, 2018, the military judge sentenced him to reduction in rank to paygrade E-1 and confinement for 90 days. Pursuant to the pretrial agreement, all confinement greater than 60 days is to be suspended. The pretrial agreement contained a waiver of the accused’s administrative separation board.
* At a Special Court-Martial in Yokosuka, Japan, Fireman Recruit Austin Greene, USN, pled guilty pursuant to a pretrial agreement to attempted sexual abuse of a child and distribution of child pornography. On June 8, 2018, the military judge sentenced him to a Bad Conduct Discharge and confinement for 6 months. The pretrial agreement had no effect on his sentence.
* At a Special Court-Martial in Yokosuka, Japan, Fireman Recruit Gorge Flores, USN, pled guilty pursuant to a pretrial agreement to one specification of attempted larceny, one specification of wrongful possession and use of a controlled substance, and four specifications of larceny. On June 14, 2018, the military judge sentenced him to a Bad Conduct Discharge and confinement for 6 months. Pursuant to the pretrial agreement, the Bad Conduct Discharge will be disapproved. The pretrial agreement contained a waiver of the accused’s administrative separation board.
* At a Special Court-Martial in Yokosuka, Japan, Petty Officer 2nd Class Matthew Bowen, USN, pled guilty pursuant to a pretrial agreement to receipt of child pornography. On June 18, 2018, the military judge sentenced him to reduction in rank to paygrade E-1 and confinement for 6 months. The pretrial agreement had no effect on his sentence. The pretrial agreement contained a waiver of the accused’s administrative separation board.
