CNRMC Holds Commanders Meeting with RMC COs

Commander, Navy Regional Maintenance Center, Rear Adm. James Downey, held a commanders conference at Naval Station Norfolk March 27 with the commanding officers of his six regional maintenance centers (RMCs), marking the first time the group had convened in CNRMC's headquarters facility.

The primary focal point of Downey's agenda topics was Naval Sea systems Command's (NAVSEA) Priority One initiative, the on-time delivery of ships and submarines out of availabilities, as well as the many other efforts underway at the RMCs to support culture of affordability efforts, cybersecurity initiatives, personnel and manning, and high velocity learning (HVL) plans across the RMCs.

"This is an important event. One where I will hear from each of the RMC's commanding officers on the health and status of their critical programs and initiatives, especially those that support our priority to complete availabilities on-time and within budget," said Downey.

CNRMC serves as the Immediate Superior in Command (ISIC) of the Navy's RMCs, and is charged with the mission to provide cost-wise material readiness to support U.S. Naval forces worldwide.
CNRMC's fiscal year 2017 (FY17) focus areas include the effective planning and execution of availabilities including Coast-Wide Bid availabilities; Integrated Project Team Development (IPTD); Duration Analysis; U.S. Navy Standard Item improvement; Configuration Management baseline discipline; and Risk Management programs.

Participants included CNRMC's Executive Director, Ms. Stephanie Douglas; CNRMC's Deputy Director, Mr. Thomas Laverghetta; RMC commanding officers Capt. Daniel Lannamann, Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) in Norfolk, Va.; Capt. David Gombas, Southeast Regional Maintenance Center (SERMC) in Mayport, Fla.; Capt. Hugh "Skip" Huck, Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) in San Diego; Capt. Jerome Zinni, Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center (FDRMC) headquartered in Naples, Italy with attachments in Rota, Spain and Manama, Bahrain; CAPT Timothy Halladay, Hawaii Regional Maintenance Center (HRMC) in Pearl Harbor; and Capt. Neil Sexton, Northwest Regional Maintenance Center (NWRMC) Intermediate Maintenance Facility (IMF) in Bremerton, Wash.
