Training Support Center (TSC) San Diego hosted its quarterly training conference with training officers and assistants from the commands throughout the area on board Naval Base San Diego Sept. 15.
"This is a great opportunity for area training officers to meet with our support staff to address any training issues they may have," said Maureen Caballero, TSC San Diego Training Director. "We encourage them to communicate early and often with our staff so that their respective commands can meet specific requirements."
Also in attendance were guest speakers from Surface Warfare Officer School, Naval Surface Forces Pacific (NSFP), and Navy Information Warfare Training Command San Diego who gave updates on training requirements and addressed concerns that training officers had regarding training quota availability.
"I talk with shipboard training officers on a daily basis but it sure is helpful to physically meet with them at venues like this," said Lt. Aaron Aiken, Commander Naval Surface Forces Pacific force training officer. "In many cases, the concerns and issues that one is working through, have been experienced by a different ship. Being the main point of contact for many of the ships allows me to provide solutions that have been successful before."
Capt. John D. Wilshusen, TSC commanding officer is a believer in his team's work.
"Being an effective training support center is a total team effort by all staff members. Our training department is the face of that the command to training officers and commands across the waterfront," said Wilshusen. "Meeting our customers' training needs by providing Sailors with the right training at the right time to support fleet requirements is why we are here."
