The Wizards of Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 133 honored four Sailors as "Sailors of the Quarter" for the second quarter of fiscal year 2016 during their first deployment as a Growler squadron.

The Sailors were recognized during a squadron forecastle ceremony aboard USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) in recognition of their exceptional contributions to the command. The awardees' accomplishments ranged from aircraft maintenance achievements to community relations projects.

Aviation Electrician's Mate First Class Jamie Madore, of Tahoka, Texas, developed a comprehensive training plan incorporating aircrew to conduct training on EA-18G Growler systems which led to the designation of 12 new enlisted aviation warfare specialists. Madore was named Senior Sailor of the Quarter.

Personnel Specialist Second Class Carmen Amoa, of Fogagogo, American Samoa, spearheaded the squadron's pay and allowances, expertly managing 80 family separation allowances, 170 career sea payments, and 82 flight deck hazardous duty incentive payments. Amoa was named Junior Sailor of the Quarter.

"It is definitely a huge honor to be named Sailor of the Quarter," said Amoa. "Being recognized was a humbling experience, especially considering that it happened during a deployment."

Logistics Specialist Third Class Komi Akitsomana, of Mableton, Georgia, ordered, tracked and delivered 272 requisitions valued at $2.7 million, greatly contributing to ensuring mission readiness. Akitsomana earned Bluejacket of the Quarter

Aviation Electrician's Mate Airman Francis Trujillo, of Hawthorne, California, enabled the squadron to safely launch and recover 155 sorties from the flight deck and contributed to a 97 percent sortie completion rate. Trujillo earned Plane Captain of the Quarter.

The four awardees will continue to serve VAQ-133 at sea, as the squadron is currently embarked as a member of Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 9 aboard John C. Stennis on patrol in 7th Fleet providing a ready force supporting security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific.

CVW 9 consists of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 71, Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 14, Airborne Early Warning Squadron 112, Electronic Attack Squadron 133 and Strike Fighter Squadrons 151, 97, 41 and 14.
