Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center (NAVSUP FLC) Pearl Harbor's Regional Mail Center is experiencing an influx of mail as a result of several U.S. and international ships' arrivals for the biennial Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise.

Twenty-seven nations, 45 ships, five submarines, more than 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel will participate in RIMPAC, scheduled June 30 - Aug. 4, in and around the Hawaiian Islands and southern California.

The Mail Center has processed, received, handled, sorted and delivered more than 60,000 pounds of mail for RIMPAC participants during the last few weeks.

"Everyone looks forward to receiving mail because it's the highlight of a Sailor's day," said Petty Officer Noel Perry. "It builds morale and is definitely something we look forward to, especially in the middle of the ocean."

Perry previously served on the USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74) aircraft carrier and speaks from experience; he currently is the Logistics Specialist Petty Officer for the Regional Mail Center.

The carrier will soon arrive to Pearl Harbor from her home port of Bremerton, Washington and the Sailors will be greeted by mail that has been quickly filling up a warehouse for the more than 3,000 men and women who live and work aboard Stennis.

FLC Pearl Harbor Regional Mail Center team will do what it takes to get the mail in the hands of their intended recipients.

As the world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity that helps participants foster and sustain cooperative relationships that are critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans. RIMPAC 2016 is the 25th exercise in the series that began in 1971.
