Sixteen civilian employees from the Chief of Naval Personnel (CNP)/N1 had the chance to "Meet the Fleet" in Norfolk, Feb. 11.

The trip provided an opportunity for those civilian employees who develop and implement many of Navy's military personnel policies, to see training, operation and command on the waterfront in action.

"This trip was really beneficial to my job," said Sean Bhattacharya, operations research analyst at CNP. "It helped me learn about engineering systems as well as how high-level Navy manpower issues affect Sailors directly."

The visit included a ship tour of USS Stout (DDG 55), USS George Washington (CVN 73), Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 26 and a chance to meet with Vice Adm. Rick Breckenridge, deputy commander, U.S. Fleet Forces, and Mark Honeker, executive director/chief of staff at U.S. Fleet Forces Headquarters.

"This trip was eye opening for me, and will undoubtedly help me do my job better," said Kimberly Lahm, CNP's Social Science Program analyst. "I'm glad I had the opportunity to see Sailors in their element."

This is the third "Meet the Fleet" visit done by CNP/N1, with more opportunities for future visits in the works.
