NAVSUP GLS Officer Recognized by the Navy League of the U.S. for Logistics Excellence

Lt. Cmdr. Johnathon Cox of Navy Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Global Logistics Support (GLS) was presented the prestigious Vice Adm. Robert F. Batchelder award by the Navy League of the United States during a ceremony held at the Maritime Museum in San Diego Oct. 22.

Rear Adm. James McNeal, commander, NAVSUP GLS, joined Navy League national corporate secretary, Pamela Ammerman, in presenting the award to Cox.

Cox was recognized for his excellent performance and contribution to supply readiness while serving aboard USS America (LHA 6), the first of the America-class amphibious assault ships for the U.S. Navy. America commanding officer, Capt. Wayne Baze, was present for the ceremony along with Cox's former team from the ship.

The Navy League of the U.S. is a national organization of more than 43,000 members and over 245 councils throughout the U.S. and overseas. Each year, the group presents awards in recognition of outstanding individual achievements in leadership, maritime affairs, scientific progress, engineering excellence, logistics competence, excellence in intelligence, and service to community and country.

The Vice Admiral Robert F. Batchelder Awards, established in 1983, are named in memory of the former Inspector General of the Bureau of Supplies and Accounts, now the Naval Supply Systems Command. These awards are presented annually to five officers between the ranks of Ens. To Lt. Cmdr. in the Supply Corps (designators 310X, 651X, 751X, and 725X) who have made the most significant personal contributions to the supply readiness of the operating forces.

NAVSUP GLS provides global logistics for a global Navy. The organization is made up of more than 6,500 military and civilian logistics professionals operating from 105 locations worldwide providing an extensive array of integrated global logistics and contracting services to Navy, Marine Corps, joint operational units, and allied forces across all warfare enterprises.
