NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS) hosted a visit to its Philadelphia site by Rear Adm. Paul Sohl, commander, Fleet Readiness Centers (COMFRC) and assistant commander for Logistics and Industrial Operations, NAVAIR.

The visit strengthened the partnership of two commands focusing on improving aviation supply and maintenance support. NAVSUP WSS and COMFRC, along with Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), are the principal enterprise stakeholders designated to sustain Naval, Marine Corps, joint and allied aircraft, engine, and unmanned vehicle programs.

"Senior leader engagement is an important avenue to ensure our organizations are aligned to support the fleet," said NAVSUP WSS Commander Rear Adm. Paul Verrastro. "It was a great pleasure to have Rear Adm. Sohl here in Philadelphia to discuss current and future sustainment strategies and to better familiarize him with our terrific workforce."

While at NAVSUP WSS, Sohl participated in discussions on the status of organic Fleet Readiness Center component production, F/A-18 aircraft support, future program sustainment opportunities and Logistics Engineering Change Proposals (LECP).

Sohl also took the opportunity to meet civilian and military personnel from the F/A-18 Integrated Weapon Systems Team (IWST) and the Industrial Support Directorate. He was provided presentations from defense workforce professionals who collectively integrate fleet, industry partner, and systems command level information to contract, finance, and deliver supply chain solutions that improve readiness to our Nation's global warfighters.

A field activity of the Naval Supply Systems Command, NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS) is the U.S. Navy's supply chain manager providing worldwide support to the aviation, surface ship, and submarine communities. NAVSUP WSS provides Navy, Marine Corps, joint and allied forces with products and services that deliver combat capability through logistics. There are more than 2,000 civilian and military personnel employed at its two Pennsylvania sites. The NAVSUP WSS Philadelphia site supports aircraft, while its Mechanicsburg site supports ships and submarines.
