From Commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic Public Affairs

Rear Adm. John R. Haley, commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic, joined chief petty officers and first class petty officers from CNAL for a run at Mt. Trashmore Park in Virginia Beach, Va., July 2.
Rear Adm. John R. Haley, commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic (CNAL), joined chief petty officers and first class petty officers from CNAL for a run at Mt. Trashmore Park in Virginia Beach, Virginia, July 2.

The run was part of the command's CPO 365 Phase I training, which strives to hone the basic tenets of teamwork, time management and tenacity throughout the year.

"Over the last three decades, the Navy's CPO Mess has progressed with building a healthier culture aboard ships, out on deployment and even here on shore duty," said Haley. "It's all about coming out here to get healthy and have fun."

Besides keeping healthy, the run also promulgated another Navy value: team building.

"Team building and physical fitness are at the peak of what we do in the Navy," said Master Chief Yeoman Andre Stuckey, CNAL staff command master chief. "Having the admirals out there reinforces those ideals, and helps build solidarity in the command."

Also recognized during the event is the importance of the CPO Mess in coordinating CPO 365 training.

"I think having [the chiefs] out here doing this is inspiring," said Haley. "It really shows how dedicated you guys are to training our future chiefs."
