Search and Rescue Underway at Naval Support Activity Panama City

Around 11:05 a.m. today, a student assigned to the Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center (NDSTC) was reported missing during a routine training exercise.

Around 11:05 a.m. today, a student assigned to the Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center (NDSTC) was reported missing during a routine training exercise.

The student was participating in a surface swim in St. Andrew Bay when he was reported missing. The training area is marked with buoys, and the maximum depth is 20 feet.

Currently NDSTC, Coast Guard Station Panama City and Bay County Sheriff’s Office are participating in the search-and-rescue effort.

This is an active search-and-rescue operation, and more information will be released when available.
